Simon's Blessing

We were spoiled this past weekend and got to go to Rexburg for our nephews blessing! It was such a beautiful blessing, thanks to his daddy Rob. Most of the Family was there and we had so much fun playing games and eating food, just like usual!

I also got to have a little fun of my own! Saturday was hair day and it was a pretty full one! I did 8 Hair Cuts and 3 Foils! I had SOOO much fun, I definitely need to get back in the salon!

So this is a short post but I just wanted everyone to know how much fun we had in Rexburg with the Fam for Simon's Blessing!

Love Y'all!

Going Home! :D

Greg and I got the opportunity to go home 2 weeks ago!

First we spent a week in Washington at me family reunion! We had SOO much fun! Grams and Pops just finished the Lake House, So we spent all week up there with EVERYONE (except Nate :(  ) enjoying the sun, the water, and each other! It was fantastic!

After we left Washington we drove back to Utah. We had to pack our apartment and get it all put in storage. Greg's parents came to help us pack which I am so grateful for, because I'm not sure what we would have done without their help. After all the packing was finished Greg's Sister Heather and her husband Josh and their kids came to help us get everything to the storage unit and get the house all clean and ready. Both Greg and I are so grateful for all our wonderful helpers! We couldn't have done it without you!

After we left our first little home, we went down to Highland and spent a few days with the family down that way. It was so good to see them! They always bring such happiness and joy into our lives!

Well, now we are back in North Dakota. We are getting right back into the old swing of things and catching up with everything that got backed up while we were away. It should be good.

One more GREAT BIG THANK YOU  to all of our family and friends for all your help, love, and support, we couldn't do a thing with out you! :D

Love to all from North Dakota!

North Dakota

Greg got a new job!!!
In May Greg started working in a gravel pit in North Dakota. He was gone for 2 weeks, and I stayed behind in Ogden. As you can imagine this was NOT our idea of a good time. He got to come home for almost 2 weeks, but when the time came for Greg to leave again we got a phone call and this time they wanted BOTH of us to come. So with 12 hours notice I quit my job at Seagull Book, we packed what we needed, arranged to be let our lease and left Utah for North Dakota!

One nice thing about it being just Greg and I... there is nothing to hold us anywhere, which makes 12 hours notice moves across the country possible! lol!

So, Greg works in a gravel pit from early in the morning, like 6 or 7ish, until late at night, like 11:30ish. Its great to be here with him though even if he is gone all the time. I spend most of my time doing little reports for the guys (time clock, production, expenditures ect.), cooking, cleaning, reading books and indulging in my new obsession.... Smallvile.
By the trailer looking at the pit.
Zoomed WAY in so you can see our tree friend
in the backgroud

So, just a little run down of how things are in North Dakot, everything here is EXPENSIVE!!! When we go grocery shopping we never seem to come out with much and end up spending a fortune! The cheap milk at Walmart is the same price as gas, $3.69 a gallon. Since Walmart here is always jammed packed, as if someone hung up an "EVERYTHING IS FREE" banner outside, we usually shop at Albertsons. Albertsons is crazy busy like any normal Walmart would be, and at Albertsons the cheap milk is $4.99 per gallon. The prices on virtually everything seem to be inflated this way. The other day I got a 6 pack of jumbo roll TP ..... it was almost $11!!!
Aside from expensive things are really flat here. I've never been somewhere that you can stand outside and look all around you for miles and miles and not see even a glimpse of some sort of mountain, but here that's how it is. We have exactly 1 tree. Okay.. Greg says these giant bush things are trees... but like I said, we have exactly 1 tree!  It is probably 10 or so miles away. When I look out the window over the pit (the gravel pit that is) I can see it way off in the distance. Sometimes I go on a run, and it feels funny to say that I ran half way to the tree and back!

I think the best thing about North Dakota, aside from getting to be with my sweet and wonderful husband, is the sun sets! I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!

I had to get the full horizon to show the effect...
the video dose a much better job.
But the Yellow field is Canola, like what they use to make Canola oil!

Ignor the talking, I was on the phone lol!

All in all we're enjoying life here. We're not sure if this is going to be just a summer thing, or if we're going to make this our lives for the next few years or forever, but I suppose its all part of the adventure! So here's to Williston North Dakota... the next chapter in Our Happily Ever After! : D

WE GOT PICTURES UP!! :D

Pictures on the walls...just in time to move to North Dakota! But I wanted to show you anyway! : D

The empty walls.. yuck!

Eternity comes one day at a time

Our parents are still in LOVE! :D

The Living Christ on one side and
The Family a Proclamaiont to the world on the other

More wedding pic on either side!

Our favorite temples and a wedding picture colloge
in the middle.

So Just a little blip on our favorite temples. The Temple on the Left is the Spokane Washington Temple. I grew up in Spokane and I got to not only attend the dedication, but I also got to sing in the primary at the open house! My grandparents also served in the Spokane Temple presidency for 3 years. The Temple on the Left is the Hamilton New Zealand Temple. Gregs Mom was born in New Zealand and her Father (Gregs Grandpa) played a large roll in the building of this Temple.

And Then There Were 2!!! :D

November 2011.
Greg came to Washington. Then I went to Utah for Thanksgiving. In November we decided not only that we didn't want to be apart, but that we wanted to be together...forever.

December 2011.
Greg came to Washington for almost 2 weeks! We got engaged!!!! :D Greg surprised me and proposed to me on Santas Lap! We were both so happy and excited!

The rest of the time flew! Between work, school, planning a wedding, and visiting back and forth Greg and I were stretched pretty thin.

I visited for New years and then again and the end of January.

Greg visited for Valentines Day.

The next time we saw each other Greg had come to Washington for us to get MARRIED!!! :D

March 3, 2012
This was the BEST DAY EVER!!!! Greg and I were Married in the Spokane Washington LDS Temple for time and for all eternity! Now we really are together forever! Forever and EVER!!! :D

We are now living in Ogden Utah. I work at Seagull Book and Greg is working with our Brother-in-law Josh doing lawn care.

We have opened a new chapter, the FIRST of many chapters of our lives together! We can't wait to see the new adventures and tales of every page we turn!

Before it all began...

Well, where do you start when you're talking about before it all started?!

I suppose the VERY beginning... I'm told it's a very good place to start! lol!!!

Ok. November 2009.
I was away at Beauty School and Greg was on his mission in Spokane. Greg (Elder Burns), just happened to be serving in my parents ward when I came home for Thanksgiving. If I remember correctly I think he may have said "Hi" to me one time... only once, and thats all he said to me the ENTIRE week I was home. He and Elder Wilson (Mark), his companion at the time, even had Thanksgiving dinner with us, and I don't recall hearing his voice through all of dinner! Then... well, that was it. I went back to School and Elder Burns continued his mission, visiting my parent EVERY DAY!

December 2009.
I came come again, for Christmas this time. Elders Burns and Wilson were still in my parents ward, and still visiting nearly every day. Again, not one word did escape the lips of quiet Elder Burns.

January 2010.
This is where the story takes a tiny twist. I went back to School in Rexburg. I was checking my Facebook one day and I had 2 friend requests from two men I didnt know. One was from a Mark Wilson and the other was from some guy named Greg Burns. I sat there a moment trying to think of who these guys were. Marks profile picture helped. I recognized him as one of the missionaries in my parents ward. Then Burns rung a bell and I remembered the "other missionary" was Elder Burns. Gregs profile picture was no help in figuring out who he was. It was a picture of him, with no shirt, climbing a rock. This muscles were bulging...
Do you see how this was NO help?!

The only thing that went through my mind was "Why do this strange half naked man, and his companion want to be my friends on Facebook?!" The best explanation I could come up with was that they were just trying to keep track of the family. SO... I added them BOTH as friends.

Time went by. Elder Burns was transferred, Elder Wilson went home, and I was still in Beauty school. Elder Burns and my Dad kept in contact the remainder of his mission. I finished Beauty School, came home, got a job, and went back to school to finish my AA Degree.

July 2011.
Near the start of July, I decided that it was time for me to serve a mission of my own. Right around the same time, my Dad got a phone call. It was Elder Burns. He was finished serving his mission and wanted Dad to come and get him to take him back to the mission home. Dad agreed of course, Elder Burns was his FAVORITE missionary of all time. Dad went and got him from Deer Park and brought him back to say goodbye to the family before taking him back to the mission home. Dad had promised Elder Burns that we would go to Utah for his home coming talk, and this is the "other" beginning to OUR story!

About a week had gone by and EVERY SINGLE CAR WE HAD was broken in some way that we couldn't get to Utah for Elder Burns home coming talk. The problem was, we had no way of letting him know that. That's when I remembered that we were friends on FACEBOOK!!!! So I logged on to facebook, and sent this "strange half naked man" a message. I told him the irony of how we wouldn't be able to make it and apologized. He responded, and then I did, and then he did... and so forth and so on. We continued this friendly little "how's life" for a few months.

September 22,2011.
Sister Schlerf you are here by called to Serve a Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Brazil, Ribeirao Preto mission. You will report to the MTC in Sao Paulo Brazil on March 7,2012.

October 2011.
It was early October and I got on Facebook, like I do a lot, Greg was online so I thought I'd chat at him for a minute. We messaged back and forth for over 2 hours about nothing particular. Before I finally went to bed I said to him "don't be a stranger, you can call or text me any time." his response was "I would, but I dont have a number to call or text..." My response was my phone number, followed by "now you do."

The next day.
I was sitting at work with not alot to do and thinking about how strange it was that all I really wanted to do was talk to Greg. My Co-Worker, Tonya, told me "then text him." a simple answer. I told her "No, I dont want to bug him. If he wants to talk to me, he will." She went on and on about how I should just text him, and I told her I wasnt going to. Then about 20 minutes later who do I get a text from?! thats right ladies and gentlemen Greg Burns himself. We texted the rest of the day, and night, and the next day, and night, and so forth and so on for more than 2 weeks!

October 17,2011.
My Mom and I had a trip planned to the Washington Coast for my birthday. We were going to visit the Columbia River Washington, Portland Oregon, and Seattle Washington temples. We were SOOO excited! But on October 17,2011... I changed my mind. I didnt want to go to the coast, I wanted to go to Utah. So we changed our plans last minute and went to Utah instead.

October 21, 2011.
This was right outside Mt Timp Temple
YAY!!! I turned 21, and I was in Utah with my mom to celebrate. We went to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple first. We had invited Greg to go with us, and he did! Our first hug was in that temple. Then Mom and I invited Greg to go out to dinner with us and a bunch of our Utah Friend and Family for my Birthday. We parted ways and told him we would let him know when and where. We then left. Mom and I went to the Draper Temple and Greg continued about his daily life. We then called Greg to let him know where to meet us for dinner. We had invited quite the large group, there would have been about 10 people for dinner, but no one made it... except for Greg! We all ate dinner, then went bowling and had SOO much fun! We took Greg back to his car and then he asked my Mom "Do you mind if I steel Kimber for a little while?" And that was it. Greg and I went on our first date. We talked and laughed and played Skipbo in Fat Cats, and then went Skipbo bowling. We invented it! you draw a card and the color of the card tells what rediculous way you have to bowl! It was SOO fun! :D Greg dropped me off at my cousins house at 2am, hugged me goodbye and left.

October 22,2011.
Mom and I were off with Friends all day! We were staying in Stansbery Park that night. We had fun at the temple, shopping and doing hair. Greg and I were texting most of the day. It was 9:30pm when I asked Greg "Do I get to see you before I leave tomorrow?" He then asked if I wanted to. I replied "Maybe." He then got in his car and drove the full hour to Stansberry. He got there at 11pm. We went on a walk and talked and laughed. When we got back to my friends house we went inside and continued to talk and laugh until 6am! At that point we were propping our eyelids open with toothpicks and we decided we should probably get to bed. So Greg drove the hour back to Highland and I went upstairs.

October 23,2011
Mom and I drove back to Washington. I slept most of the way, but Greg and I decided that we wanted to see each other again.
